PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fluorescent lamp which makes a lighting environment to feel brighter by improving heat resistance of a red phosphor composed of an oxysulfide. SOLUTION: The oxysulfide phosphor 1 expressed by the formula: Ln<SB>2</SB>O<SB>2</SB>S:Eu<SP>3+</SP>(Ln is at least one element selected from Y, Gd and La) is coated on the surface with a phosphate 2, in the state of fine particles, for example. The fluorescent lamp is produced by using this red phosphor. The phosphate contains at least one selected from, for example, Al, Ca, Sr, Ba and La.
