PURPOSE: A backlight unit is provided to reduce increase of temperature due to radiation of an inverter by arranging reversely the inverter. CONSTITUTION: The backlight unit comprises a plurality of light emitting lamps(41), a lamp fixing instrument(40) for fixing and supporting the light emitting lamps(41) and a light scattering device(42) arranged between the light emitting lamps(41) and LCD(Liquid Crystal Display) panels. The light scattering device(42) prevents from showing the shape of the light emitting lamp(41) to a display surface of the LCD panel and provides a light source having a uniform brightness distribution. An inverter for supplying power is installed to a lower portion of the lamp fixing instrument(40). In the inverter, inverter ICs(33) are attached at an upper portion of an inverter PCB(Printed Circuit Board)(30).
