PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To miniaturize a cleaner body and to lighten the operation of a handle in releasing the brake of a cord reel. SOLUTION: A vacuum cleaner is provided with a handle 33 vertically movably provided on the cleaner body 1 incorporating a motor-driven blower 17, and a cord reel 25 for winding a power cord 30. The cord reel 25 is arranged inside the cleaner body 1 such that the supporting shaft 22 of the cord reel 25 is roughly vertical, the unlocking operation of the cord reel 25 is performed by pressing down the handle 33, and the power cord 30 is wound.
