PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a high strength coated steel sheet for automotive use by which≥490 MPa tensile strength TS can be secured and also corrosion resistance after coating can be satisfactorily secured even if existing zinc phosphating treatment is omitted. SOLUTION: The high strength coated steel sheet for automotive use can be obtained by: forming, as an intermediate layer, a chromate film of 10 to 150 mg/m<SP>2</SP>total Cr coating weight on the whole or a part of the surface of a high tensile strength steel sheet which essentially contains 0.05 to 0.2 mass% C and also contains, by mass, one or more kinds among 0.3 to 2.5% Si, 1.2 to 2.8% Mn, 0.1 to 6.0% Cr and 0.005 to 3.0% Al; and then forming, as an upper layer, a coating film which contains, as essential components, 5 to 30 mass% rust-preventive pigment (based on total solids in paint, the same applies to the following), 10 to 70 mass% conductive material and 10 to 85% organic resin consisting of thermosetting resin and crosslinking material to a thickness of 1 to 80 g/m<SP>2</SP>coating weight.
