PURPOSE: An LCD(Liquid Crystal Display) is provided to construct an edge of a substrate as a convex curve surface shape, thereby reducing damage of a resin plate and a rubbing cloth and minimizing badness in alignment. CONSTITUTION: An array substrate or a color filter substrate on which a firmly cured alignment film is coated is positioned at a table(160) of a rubbing apparatus. A rubbing role(163) wound a rubbing cloth(165) rotates at high speed with a constant RPM. The array substrate or the color filter substrate(140) on the table(160) is contacted with the rubbing role(163) rotated with high speed. Thereafter, the table(160) moves toward a direction, so that a groove with a constant direction is formed at the alignment film formed on the array substrate or the color filter substrate(140). Since the edge cross section of the array substrate or the color filter substrate(140) is formed as a curve, so that the damage of a portal(167) formed at the surface of the rubbing cloth(165) is reduced.
