PURPOSE: A method and an apparatus for designing a mask layout of a surface acoustic wave filter and a program storage medium are provided to simulate a frequency response and an impulse response of a corresponding filter according to a user's parameter. CONSTITUTION: An input portion(101) is used for receiving a simulation request specification and a layout request specification from an external memory device(4) or an input device(5). A filter specification setup portion(102) is formed with a filter type setup portion(102a) and a parameter setup portion(102b). The filter type setup portion(102a) is used for confirming the simulation request specification according to a filter type selected by a user. The parameter setup portion(102b) is used for is used for forming a parameter input interface by using an input parameter of the filter type setup portion(102a). A simulation portion(104) is a module for simulating a frequency response curve or an impulse response curve. A specification value calculation portion(103) is a module for calculating layout coefficients by using a correlation. A layout portion(105) is used for extracting a layout parameter and generating a mask layout of a designing filter.
