PURPOSE: A method for playing a game by using a terrestrial magnetism sensor in a portable terminal is provided to decide a direction by inputting a terrestrial magnetism signal sensed by a sensor, and to express the decided direction in order to play a game, thereby enjoying the game regardless of keypad size. CONSTITUTION: A controller plays a game according to environment settings(501). The controller checks whether a terrestrial magnetism signal is inputted from a sensor(502). If the terrestrial magnetism signal is a downward signal, the controller displays a fishing rod throw on a display(503). The controller checks whether a terrestrial magnetism signal is inputted from the sensor(504). If the terrestrial magnetism signal is not an upward signal, the controller checks whether a terrestrial magnetism signal is inputted from the sensor(506). If the terrestrial magnetism signal is a left-directional signal, the controller displays a fishing rod that moves in left direction on the display(507). The controller checks whether a key signal is inputted from a key input unit(512). If so, the controller completes the procedure.
