PURPOSE: A method for remotely upgrading application software of a videophone system is provided to efficiently manage a system memory by upgrading the application software such as a GUI(Graphic User Interface), a font, and an OS(Operating System) in a remote place. CONSTITUTION: The videophone system comprises a CPU(12) and a flash memory(16). The videophone downloads the upgrade application software from an upgrade server. The downloaded application program is directly used in an operation area of the flash memory. After confirming that the downloaded application software has no error by using in an unused area of the flash memory, the downloaded application program is used in the operation area of the flash memory. After the downloaded application program is written to the unused area of the flash memory, an operation address of the CPU is changed to the newly downloaded address and the videophone is operated.
