<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a small-sized water cleaning system which is suitable for the cleaning of water of a closed water area, set afloat on the surface of the water by a self-supported independent power supply to be used, causes a sufficient amount of oxygen to be dissolved in water and has a high water cleaning efficiency, and a water cleaning method using the system. <P>SOLUTION: The water cleaning system comprises at least a float 22 floating on the surface of the water, a wind power generator 24 having a vertical axis windmill erected on the float 22 and a microbubble generator 26 driven by power obtained from the wind power generator 24 to discharge microbubbles 28 under the surface WL of the water.
