PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus constituted so that an uneven electrification performance is suppressed by removing toner and the like accumulated in an electrifier, and then, an image of stable image quality can be formed. SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus is provided with a photoreceptor 1 which can be rotated backward and forward. Besides, an electrifying brush 2, a developing roller 3 and a transfer roller 4 are successively arranged around the photoreceptor 1 along the rotating direction of the photoreceptor 1. In the case the photoreceptor 1 is rotated, the electrifying brush 2 is also rotated forward along the rotating direction of the photoreceptor 1. Brush fibers constituting the electrifying brush 2 come into contact with the photoreceptor 1 while curving. When an image is not formed, the photoreceptor 1 and the electrifying brush 2 are intermittently rotated in a direction opposite to that at an image forming processing. The brush fibers of the electrifying brush 2 oscillate with the intermittent rotation, then, the toner and the like are efficiently discharged. COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO&NCIPI
