PURPOSE: A method for manufacturing Cu added hot rolled strip using thin slab is provided to manufacture the Cu added hot rolled strip having superior surface quality economically by hot rolling the heated thin slab after heating a thin slab in which inexpensive constituents of Si and P are controlled without addition of expensive Ni in a determined intermediate heating temperature. CONSTITUTION: The method comprises a step of heating a thin slab having thickness of 45 to 70 mm to the temperature range of 1,190 to 1,240 deg.C in an intermediate heating facility, wherein the thin slab is fabricated by casting a steel comprising 0.1 wt.% or less of C, 0.5 wt.% of Mn, 0.4 to 1.0 wt.% of Si, 0.02 to 0.10 wt.% of P, 0.1 to 0.5 wt.% of Cu, 0.006 wt.% or less of S and a balance of Fe and other inevitably mixed impurities and satisfying the following condition: Mn/S>=30 to a casting speed of 3.5 to 5.5 m/min; and a step of hot direct rolling the heated thin slab.
