<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve recognition accuracy at the recognition of whether an reflecting object is a motor vehicle or not through the use of the intensity of reflected waves from the reflecting object. <P>SOLUTION: In the case that a plurality of reflected waves from reflecting objects are received when a plurality of transmission waves are irradiated, it is determined whether the reflecting objects which have generated the plurality of reflected waves are a single body or not. When it is determined that the reflecting objects are a single body by the determination, the maximum intensity among the intensities of the reflected waves reflected by the reflecting object is compared with a reference intensity for determining whether the reflecting object is a motor vehicle or not. In this way, it is possible to univocally determine whether the reflecting object is highly possibly a motor vehicle or highly possibly not a motor vehicle for every reflecting object determined as a single body. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO&NCIPI</p> |
