PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a detector which ensures security, while saving time and effort of inspecting work, in a detector such as a passive infrared sensor which detects individuals who intrude a warning area. SOLUTION: This detector is provided with a control means which controls so as to make indicating function of an indicator valid, when the detector receives an infrared pulse signal emitted from an infrared remote-control unit for household electrical appliance. The display function will not become valid carelessly, except when the inspection work by way of the receiving range of the infrared pulse signal is made limited, directly under the detector or by way of the receiving range being made adjustable to arbitrary direction and in the arbitrary view range.
