PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an information retrieval device capable of precisely and efficiently performing a retrieval with a substantially constant retrieval time. SOLUTION: In this information retrieval device, one proper retrieval method for determining one or more retrieval methods capable of performing a retrieval using an inputted query in a retrieval time close to a standard retrieval time is determined. The inputted query is subjected to morpheme analysis, and syntactic analysis or semantic analysis is also performed as occasion demands. From the retrieval methods conformable to the analysis results, the one retrieval means capable of performing the retrieval using the inputted query in the retrieval time close to the standard retrieval time is determined.
