PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a compound having harmful arthropod-controlling activity. SOLUTION: The harmful arthropod can be controlled by applying a controlling agent containing 1,2,4-thiadiazole compound as an active ingredient, the 1,2,4-thiadiazole compound being represented by formula (1) wherein R<SP>1</SP>denotes a 1-3C alkynyl group which may be substituted with a halogen atom; R<SP>2</SP>denotes a 3-8C cycloalkyl group, a 5-8C cycloalkenyl group or a 7-11C bicycloalkyl group, wherein the 3-8 cycloalkyl group, the 5-8C cycloalkenyl group and the 7-11C bicycloalkyl group each may be substituted with a substituent selected from the group consisting of a 1-4C alkyl group, a halogen atom and a trifluoromethyl group; and A denotes a single bond, a 1-2C alkylene group or a 2-3C alkylidene group.
