A base coating system especially fulfilling electronic static discharge (ESD) requirements, comprising a base coating, a horizontal conductive layer, and a top coating consisting of an epoxide resin coating, containing at least one liquid conductivity component, a fiber conductivity component, and a solid conductivity component is new. An Independent claim is included for a method of preparing the system involving application of the base coating, then the horizontal conductive layer, and the top coating, as described above, onto the horizontal conductive layer.
