PURPOSE: A method for distributively accommodating virtual numbers in a switching system is provided to receive or originate a call through a phone housed in a different normal node if a specific node has a problem. CONSTITUTION: A CPM broadcasts control node information of each virtual number of a DBMS to each LSM(S501). When an arbitrary subscriber requests occupation of a specific virtual number, each LSM receives the request and checks whether it is a control node of the corresponding virtual number(S502,S503). If each LSM is not a control node, it inquires a control node of the corresponding virtual number about whether a virtual number can be available for use(S504). The control node checks whether the corresponding virtual number is currently used(S505-S507). If the virtual number is not in use, the control node informs the LSM about possibility of use(S509). When the subscriber occupies the virtual number, the control node updates a virtual number management table(S510) and transmits updated virtual number management table information to each node(S511).
