A door fastener assembly comprise a manually operable member 17 which is mounted for pivotal movement about an axis 18 spaced from and at right angles to the longitudinal axis of a bolt 14, the bolt or a part engaged therewith defining a bore 20, the axis of which extends at right angles to the aforementioned axes, a spring-loaded plunger 21 mounted in the bore, the plunger 'being pivotally connected to the manually operable member 17 the arrangement being suoh that when the member is moved about its pivotal axis, the bolt 14 will be moved in the direction of its longitudinal axis, the spring serving as an over-centre spring to retain the bolt in either an extended or retracted position. As shown, in which the assembly comprises a pair of bolts 14, an extension 15 of one bolt 14 is provided with a member 19 in which the bore 20 is located, and the free ends of the extensions 15 are interconnected through a lever 16 which is provided with a non-circular bore for engagement by a tool for emergency operation of the bolts 14. In another arrangement, Figs. 3 and 4 (not shown) the bolt extensions 15 include toothed racks engageable with a pinion which replaces the lever 16. |
