METHOD OF READING DATA FROM AN OPTICAL DISC AND A MULTITRACK OPTICAL DISC READER FOR THE SAME

A method of reading data from an optical disc is disclosed together with a multitrack optical disc reader for the same. The method comprising the steps of: (i) reading data from at least two tracks simultaneously using a multi-beam optical pickup; (ii) jumping to read data from at least two further tracks which are adjacent but not overlapping those of step (i); and (iii) using error correction codes to recover data located between data read in step (i) and data read in step (ii) which was not read because of rotation of the disc during the jump.
