AIR CONDITIONER AND OPERATION CONTROL METHOD THEREOF

PURPOSE: An air conditioner and a method for controlling the operation thereof are provided to remove smoke quickly by increasing the air suction force and air suction range, wherein anion is generated for sterilizing the room air. CONSTITUTION: An air conditioner includes a fan motor(40), a blower fan, an air suction hole, a suction grill motor(52), and a controller(30). The blower fan is mounted to an air flow channel for generating air suction force and rotates by the fan motor. The air suction hole has suction grills for guiding air inhaled by the blower fan. The suction grill motor controls the operation positions of the suction grills. The controller controls the rotation speed of the fan motor and the operation positions of the suction grills as a smoke removing mode is set. An anion generator(48) is further provided to sterilize the room air under the control of the controller.
