The procedure for reducing sludge production in domestic or industrial waste water anaerobic treatment plants includes a stage, independent of the water treatment line, for aerobic biological solubilisation by a thermophilic enzyme process, associated with an anaerobic digestion stage that is mesophilic and/or thermophilic. The biological solubilisation process can be located upstream or downstream of the anaerobic digestion stage, or is situated in a branch circuit in parallel with it. The procedure also incorporates a secondary dephosphatation stage in the sludge reduction circuit in addition to the one in the main treatment line, with phosphorous pollution eliminated by chemical precipitation by the addition of metallic salts and/or mineral compounds. In addition, the system is self-balanced for energy, with part of the biogas produced during anaerobic digestion of sludge used as an energy source for heating or maintaining the temperatiure of the reactor. |
