Sample preparation system

A mixing apparatus for separately mixing samples during their transport between two consecutive stations in an automated sample preparation system. The apparatus includes a plurality of mixing vessels (21) mounted on an endless conveyor (20), a supply section of the endless conveyor extending between two consecutive stations. Each mixing vessel has an axis about which it is rotated, the axis being inclined at an acute angle to the vertical when the mixing vessel travels along the supply section. Each mixing vessel is drivingly connected to a common drive means for rotation of the mixing vessel.
