PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a tone quality display method which permits judgment of a difference of audio/quality at a glance, a program for implementing the method and a DVD audio disk playback apparatus. SOLUTION: The DVD audio disk playback apparatus separates at least audio data and video data from the data recorded on a DVD audio disk by using a stream attribute information acquiring section 102 and acquires reproduced audio stream attribute information from the audio stream of the separated audio data. When a frequency band-pass filter 31 being a frequency level conversion section converts the separated audio data to frequency level information, a level dividing section 105 divides the level of the frequency level information to a plurality of stages in compliance with the number of quantization bits of the reproduced audio stream attribute information.
