<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an ink jet recording medium, which has a high level of glossiness and good ink absorption and, at the same time, can realize a high image quality such as excellent color development and color reproduction, and to provide a method for manufacturing the same. <P>SOLUTION: In this ink jet recording medium, an ink-receptive layer composed mainly of inorganic particulates having an average particle diameter of 10 nm to 500 nm is provided on a support, and a gloss layer is provided on the ink-receptive layer by coating a polymer dispersion. The polymer dispersion is a dispersion of particulates of a styrene-acrylic polymer which has been formed by copolymerizing, as monomer components, at least a cationic monomer, a (meth)acrylamide, styrene, and methyl methacrylate and has not been crosslinked. Further, the particulates of the polymer in the polymer dispersion are present on the ink-receptive layer while maintaining the particle shape to constitute the gloss layer. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO |
