PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a color resolution and composition optical system for mitigating a thermal stress on integrally-bonded optical components fixed on a reference base by bonding due to a thermal expansion difference caused by photoirradiation. SOLUTION: 1st to 4th PBSs 2, 3, 7 and 9 are arranged so that polarization surfaces 12, 13, 16 and 19 may be formed in a X-shape. The 1st PBS 2 on the light incident side is arranged diagonal to the PBS 9 on the light outgoing side, the 2nd PBS 3 is arranged in a direction where the incident light is transmitted through the polarization surface 12 of the 1st PBS 2, the 3rd PBS 7 is arranged in a direction where the incident light is reflected by the polarization surface 12 of the 1st PBS 2, a 2nd phase plate 8 is arranged between the 3rd PBS 7 and the 4th PBS 9, a 1st phase plate 11 is arranged on the light outgoing side of the 4th PBS 9, and the integrally formed optical component 22 obtained by bonding the 2nd to 4th PBSs 3, 7 and 9 and the 1st and 2nd phase plates 8 and 11 is bonded on the reference base 30A with a slit 46 formed between the 3rd PBS 7 and the 4th PBS 9 through two bonding parts 42 and 43.
