The communications system (CSY) has a control processor (SRV) coupled via a network (LAN) with a communications device (PBX1) with a configuration service module (CCMC) for exchange of synchronization information and/or configuration data between the communications device and a databank (DB) and a service module (TSP) for data exchange between an application (APP) and the configuration service module, the synchronization arrangement using an expanded service module (XDS) within the service module, for read-out and write-in of synchronization information and/or configuration data in the databank. An Independent claim for a synchronization method for configuration data in a communications system is also included.
