PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a thermoelement of simplified construction which can be composed of the necessary minimum number of constituent components and can be reduced in cost as well, is also excellent in response and durability, and moreover can ensure the advance or retreat action by a necessary stroke of a piston by a change in volume caused by the expansion or shrinkage of a thermal expansion object. SOLUTION: The thermoelement 10 having the thermal expansion object (wax) 12 inside a case 11 is equipped with the piston 13 arranged along the axial direction inside the case. The piston is so formed as to proceed or retreat with the expansion or shrinkage of the thermal expansion object, by making the inward end of this piston face the inside of the thermal expansion object and making its outward end project outwards from one end of the case. The piston is held slidably with a guide member 14 arranged in one end side part inside the case. In the inward end of this guide member in the case, a sealing member 15 is arranged to seal the thermal expansion object to the other end side of the inside of the case. COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
