PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a welding tool and welding method of steel pipes or the like, with which "back gas" can be efficiently and surely supplied and inert gas is not unnecessarily consumed in welding and connecting the steel pipes or the like from the outside surface. SOLUTION: The welding tool for the steel pipes or the like supplies the inert gas 30 as the back gas to welding grooves in welding the steel pipes 11a and 11b or the like by aligning their axes. Disk-shaped fixtures 14a and 14b for shutting off the welding points of the annular spacing 13 formed by the welding grooves 12a and 12b from the outdoor air along an axial direction are attached to the respective inner walls of the steel pipes 11a and 11b or the like, respectively. The welding tool is provided with a gas supply section 23 for supplying the inert gas 30 to the welding points via the space shut off by these fixtures 14a and 14b. COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO |
