PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a steel pipe pile press fitting method for surely performing foot protection of a press fitted steel pipe pile by reducing press fitting resistance in the case where the steel pipe pile is press-fitted in soil. SOLUTION: A steel pipe pile press fitting device 1 supplies a compressed gas to a gas introduction pipe 5 through pipes 7 and 8 from a compressor 6 when press-fitting the steel pipe pile 4 into the soil 3 with a press fitting jack 2. The gas introduction pipe 5 is constituted to jet the gas in the inside of the steel pipe pile 4 at the edge of the steel pipe pile 4, i.e. in the neighborhood of an open end, and agitates/disperses blocked soil by jetting the gas simultaneously with the press fitting. Thus, the press fitting resistance is reduced during press fitting of the steel pipe pile, press fitting can be smoothly performed, and the steel pipe pile can be surely arrived at a support ground. In addition, after press fitting down to a prescribed depth, a hardener is injected through the gas introduction pipe 5 to surely secure a pile edge support area. COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
