PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an ink jet device equipped with a position detecting mechanism for an ink carrier which can detect the accurate position of the ink carrier even in such a case that the interval between slit parts is large and can miniaturize the ink carrier without increasing the number of parts. SOLUTION: In the ink jet device, a pulley 23 including a gear part 23a, which is meshed with the tooth part 13a of a loop-shaped drive belt 13 to be rotated, the disc-shaped rotary encoder plate 24, which has a plurality of slit parts 24a, attached to the pulley 23 and a sensor 25, which detects the slit parts 24a of the rotary encoder plate 24, are provided to the rear of the ink carrier 15. The gear part 23a of the pulley 23 is provided to the region under the lower end of the wiring attaching part 21 of the ink carrier 15. COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
