<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enhance the original feeding accuracy of feeding an original to a roller, to prevent original jam occurrence, to enhance the original reading accuracy, and to simply eliminate original jam. <P>SOLUTION: In an original feeder, a deflection means to deflect the direction of an original fed from an original feed unit comprises an original guide formed on an original cover, a positionally-fixed paper feed roller to feed the original, a driven roller to be driven by the paper feed roller, and a rocking roller fitting member which is elastically urged by a predetermined elastic member so that the driven roller is elastically urged by the paper feed roller.
