<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce the code volume and to increase the operation speed in an information processor which executes run length encoding after DCT. <P>SOLUTION: An 8×8 block register 21 where multi-bit image data in block units after quantization is stored is zigzag scanned backward by a search controller 24, and a correction counter 23 is counted up each time effective coefficients are changed or moved in accordance with a correction level, and correction processing is repeated till the counted value reaches a value preliminarily set to a correction level set register 22.
