<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce power consumption at standby in a radio communication apparatus using a frequency hopping system, and to provide a detecting apparatus for a hopping field available to achieve this purpose. <P>SOLUTION: A hopping field detecting part 330 is incorporated into the radio communication apparatus combining a function as a mobile phone 310 and that as a Bluetooth(R) instrument 320. The hopping field detecting part 330 has a function for detecting whether a hopping field, whose frequency shifts with a frequency hopping period T based on a communication standard of Bluetooth, exists in a surrounding area. Although the mobile phone 310 is set at a regular standby mode, an oscillation circuit required for standby operation of the Bluetooth instrument 320 is set at a resting state until a detection signal from the hopping field detecting part 330 is given. The Bluetooth instrument 320 shifts to a regular standby mode only after the detection signal is given. By setting the oscillation circuit at the resting state as above, power consumption is reduced. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO |
