TRIMMER AND METHOD FOR CUTTING COIL STRAND

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a trimmer with which distortion of a coil by cutting becomes minimum and a cutting edge is formed not to cut or pierce body tissue touching the cutting edge easily.

SOLUTION: The cutting device for trimming a coil strand such as a stent for the artery, the urinary tract or the other lumen is made of a wire of a metal or plastic and includes a pair of connecting arms 12 and 14 connected with a pivot connecting member. One arm has a supporting jaw 26 to support the coil strand. The other arm has a jaw equipped with a cutter 28. The supporting jaw has a passage through which the coil strand can pass to help to support the coil strand to be cut by a cutter. It is preferable that the supporting jaw has a guide channel formed by a pair of tapered walls which can slide between adjacent coils of the coil strand.
