PURPOSE: A thin film transistor array substrate and an LCD(Liquid Crystal Display) including the array substrate are provided to improve display characteristic of the LCD. CONSTITUTION: A thin film transistor array substrate includes a gate line(121) and a gate electrode(123) connected to the gate line, which are formed on an insulating substrate(110). A gate insulating layer(140) is formed on the gate line and gate electrode. A data line(171) intersecting the gate line, a source electrode connected to the data line, and a drain electrode(175) opposite to the source electrode are formed on the gate insulating layer. A semiconductor layer(150) is formed on the portion of the gate insulating layer, which corresponds to the gate electrode. A part of the semiconductor layer is extended to a region disposed under the data line. A light-shielding layer(129) is formed of the same material as the material of the gate line on the substrate. The semiconductor layer formed under the data line is superposed on the light-shielding layer. A pixel electrode(190) electrically connected to the drain electrode is formed on the substrate.
