PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a locking device capable of preventing malfeasant unlocking though it has a simple constitution. SOLUTION: In the locking device which has a sliding member (a dead bolt 20) installed to a door 12 and slid between a first place and a second place and in which the door 12 can be opened and closed when the sliding member (the dead bolt 20) is positioned at the first place and the door 12 cannot be opened and closed when it is positioned at the second place, the locking device has an engaging means controlling the movement of the sliding member (the dead bolt 20) when the sliding member is moved at the second place in the case of the closing of the door 12.
