PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for detecting shot changes in video clips. SOLUTION: The method for detecting shot changes in video clips comprises steps of receiving two P frames (or I frame and P frame) and B frame, obtaining energy values corresponding to forward and backward references of macroblocks by an inverse quantization of the macroblocks, computing the number of a first macroblock and a second macroblock having an energy value corresponding to the forward and backward references smaller than the threshold and the ratio of the number of the forward and backward references of the first macroblock and the second macroblock to the total number of macroblocks in the frames and arranging shot changes between the frames based on the computed ratio.
