PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To regularize arrays of elements for forming polarized light in a plane direction and thickness direction of a polarizer.

SOLUTION: In the method for manufacturing the polarizer having a polarizing section for forming the polarized light and a light transmission section for transmitting the polarized light past the polarizing section, a member (a) constituting the polarizing section is manufactured by manufacturing a plurality of wires aligned with the elements for forming the polarizing plate in their longitudinal direction and subjecting the plurality of the wires in a bundled state to thermocompression bonding and the member (a) and a member (b) consisting of a light transparent material constituting the light transmission section are thermocompression bonded in a laminated state.
