PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress the occurrence of abrupt change of change gear ratio and hunting even when the passing torque of a toroidal continuously variable unit 48 is abruptly changed according to a mode switching. SOLUTION: This continuously variable transmission comprises a feedback mechanism transmitting the axial displacement of a trunnion 7a and the swing displacements about pivot shafts 9 and 9 to a change gear ratio control valve 12. The cam face 21a of a precession cam 18a forming the feedback mechanism is formed of a gentle sloped part 91 with a small cam lead and a sharp sloped part 92 with a large cam lead. When a mode is switched, the tip part of the first arm piece 46 of a link arm 19a forming the feedback mechanism is allowed to abut on the sharp sloped part 92. With this configuration, when the mode is switched, power rollers 6 and 6 suppress a variation in change gear ratio according to the axial displacement of the pivot shafts 9 and 9.
