PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a magnetic head which insures exact matching of MR (Magnetoresistive) heights and reduces the fluctuation in asymmetry. SOLUTION: The magnetic head is provided with a first shielding layer 51, a second shielding layer 53, an MR element 54, and a marker layer 55; all thereof are exposed from a medium sliding contact surface in the state of inclining at an azimuth angleθ; when the two straight lines extended in one direction through both ends 54a in the track width direction of the MR element 54 are defined as azimuth virtual lines A and B, the marker layer 55 exists on the inner side of the track width Tw direction of the azimuth virtual lines A and B and both the ends 55a are arranged on the outer side of the track width Tw direction of the azimuth virtual lines A and B.
