A child restraint device comprises at least one handle attachable to a desired location next to an infant's or child's body. The handle permits a parent or other person to hold or restrain a child in a more secure and reliable manner, such as while giving the child a bath, compared to simply grabbing a child's hand, arm or other body part. The handle is advantageously located nearer the child's center of gravity compared to a child's arm or leg. For example, the handle may advantageously be located next to or near the child's spine, or it may be located in the middle of the child's chest or stomach area (e.g., at or near the sternum). One or more handles may be located under the child's arm pits. The handle typically has increased friction compared to a child's skin, particularly when contacted with soapy water, so as to improve the reliability of the grip. |
