PURPOSE: A cosmetic composition containing pigments surface-treated with dihydroxyacetone having an effect of reducing opacification on the skin surface together with conventional cosmetic material is provided. The composition improves the surface color of pigments while keeping inherent physical characteristic. CONSTITUTION: The cosmetic composition contains 1 to 97% by weight of pigments surface-treated with dihydroxyacetone. The dihydroxyacetone is prepared by the steps of: uniformly mixing 40 to 60% by weight of white pigments, 0.05 to 5.0% by weight of amino acid and a solvent; dissolving 0.005 to 5.0% by weight of dihydroxyacetone in 95 to 99.995% by weight of the same type of a solvent; mixing the above solvents in a ratio of 1:1, reacting at 25 to 100deg.C for 30 to 240deg.C; and heat-treating the mixture at 90 to 120deg.C for 30 to 120min, followed by drying. The pigments are selected from talc, kaolin, mica, sericite, titanium dioxide, silica, boron nitride, nylon and polymethacrylate.
