The universal joint is provided with two fork elements each comprising two arms leading to an eye (10). An elevation (19) with a short curved groove (20) is located at the outer ends of each of the arms, opposite a circular groove (23) surrounding a bolt (22) protruding from the bottom (27) of a bearing sleeve (14). An element (24) securing the sleeve (14) inside the bore (11) engages with both grooves (20, 23). The particular shape of the first groove (20) facilitates the use of a thinner material for the outer ends of the arms, resulting in a compact universal joint.
