Apparatus for dispensing a vapour of an essential oil or other liquid into a ventilation system passage (17) includes a vessel (20), heater for heating liquid (25) in the vessel to form vapour and an aerator (45) bubbling air through the liquid to transport the vapour to the passage (17). The apparatus may also include a liquid reservoir (85), multiple oil vessels (318), and a controller (100) which regulates heating of the liquid in response to a user control (120), an air flow detector (110) and data stored in a controller memory (105).
