The transponder (1) can be coupled to the transmitter/receiver (2) via an electromagnetic field (3) and the transponder influences the field radiated by the transmitter/receiver by means of a variable switchable load (5) for data transmission. The variable switchable load is in the form of a PMOS transistor (6) with its gate connector connected to an adjustable voltage supply (7). AN Independent claim is also included for the following: (a) a method of data transmission from a transponder.
