PURPOSE: A brake system for a vehicle and a control method thereof are provided to prevent accidents by turning on the warning lamp and releasing an alarm sound in incompletely locking the engine room hood and the door and preventing the vehicle from starting or traveling and applying the maximum line pressure in the brake line. CONSTITUTION: A brake system is composed of a booster(12) boosting braking force according to operation of a brake pedal(10) by a driver; a master cylinder(14) operating according to braking force from the booster and supplying brake fluid stored in a reservoir tank to a brake cylinder(20); a first connecting pipe(18) connecting the master cylinder to the brake cylinder; and a forcible brake driving unit automatically restricting the vehicle from starting or traveling in not operating the brake by the driver when opening the hood or the door of the vehicle.
