FIELD: legal medicine, in particular, evaluation of firearm bullet injury resulted from firing at different distances. ^ SUBSTANCE: method involves investigating volume of injury channels in flat bones depending on sizes of inlet and outlet openings, as well as thickness of flat bone and configuration of bullet channel; establishing distances of firing resulting in minimal volume of injury channel, with outlet openings being substantially equal and corresponding to bullet diameter. Increase in firing distances is accompanied with increase in volume of firing injury owing to increase in size of outlet opening. Decrease of firing distance also results in increased volume of firing injury substantially owing to increased sizes of inlet opening. ^ EFFECT: simplified method and increased precision of data obtained. ^ 2 tbl |
