PURPOSE: An apparatus and method for controlling the load of a power management system is provided to allow the apparatus to control the load in response to the power management by attaching an additional load control device. CONSTITUTION: An apparatus(400) for controlling the load of a power management system includes a pager receiver(410), a handy loader communication unit(430), a power controller(450), a display unit(440) and a microcomputer(420). The pager receiver(410) receives the control command received through the wireless call method at the wireless base station. The handy loader communication unit(430) determines whether the corresponding power device is operated in response to the control command or not by comparing the received control command with the predetermined intrinsic ID. The power controller(450) controls the temperature set and the operational mode corresponding to the control command after the control command is determined by the handy loader communication unit(430). The display unit(440) displays the control information and the status information of the power device. And, the microcomputer(420) controls the operations of the pager receiver(410), the handy loader communication unit(430), the power controller(450) and the display unit(440).
