PORTABLE COMPUTER HAVING KEYBOARD BACKLIGHT

PURPOSE: A portable computer having a keyboard backlight is provided to turn on the keyboard backlight without an operation when a user takes a standby state for using a keyboard, and link the on/off of the keyboard backlight with the switch of a normal/standby mode of a system. CONSTITUTION: A sensor(19) installed to a plate surface of a main body generates a detecting signal by detecting the touch/approach of the user. A controller(25) makes a backlight power supplier(21) supply power to the keyboard backlight(20) based on the detecting signal from the sensor. A storage(27) sets/stores an on/off condition of the backlight.
