PURPOSE: A roller for preventing a defect in shot ball pressing on the strip surface is provided to reduce the time for maintenance by changing only the damaged part of a roller and to improve quality by protecting a strip surface from being scratched. CONSTITUTION: A roller for preventing a defect in shot ball pressing on the strip surface comprises a roller shell(10) rotatably supported on a bearing block(5), a chrome liner member(12) formed in the cylindrical structure covering the surface of the roller shell and protecting the roller shell by covering the surface of the roller shell, and a rubber covering layer(30) mounted on the outer diameter of the chrome liner member and supporting the lower face of a strip with the diameter larger than that of the chrome liner member.
